If the line between the sublime and the ridiculous is thin – according to the maxim attributed to Napoleon (among others) – in some examples of architectural projects, that line is never even crossed. Everything can coexist: in reality, it just depends on who’s passing judgement. Where many people see an artistic and structural marvel, others may find the grandiose or conventional nature of a design to be jarring, or on the contrary, that it is too modern.
