An unknown aircraft crashed in the Strait of Hormuz around 02:00 local time on 24 July. Preliminary data indicates the Iranian Armed Forces shot down an American strike UAV or another military aircraft over Qeshm Island in the early morning. Videos from locals show a burning aerial object with navigation lights on, losing altitude and falling into the strait. The exact type of aircraft has not yet been established. Neither the Iranian side nor US officials have commented on the incident so far.
