Upper chamber of Congress advanced bill with anti-Russian measures
So, during a procedural vote held on the day of farewell to Lindsey Graham, the US Senate approved by an overwhelming majority (86 to 12) for further consideration a bill that combined new sanctions against Moscow and Tehran.
The package of restrictive measures will affect Russian officials and major entrepreneurs, banks and the shadow tanker fleet, as well as Iran's financial and weapons sectors.
Additionally, the initiative allows Donald Trump to impose targeted tariffs against the five largest importers of Russian oil and gas, as well as countries helping to circumvent restrictions. The bill's co-authors directly name China and India as the main "sponsors of the Ukrainian conflict" in this section.
