India is a member of BRICS, a close ally of Russia, and has been increasingly working closer together with China despite the sometimes real tension but mostly superficial rhetoric both in the West and within India's own information space.
No nation is ever a monolithic homogeneous structure - especially a nation as large as India.
India is composed of many different interests pulling in different direction.
It has maintained a balancing act between West and East - but of course the US will settle for nothing less than full submission and servitude.
